You might want to try Cusp. It’s a plug-in for eclipse. The default Common Lisp implementation is SBCL.

It’s location is: http://code.google.com/p/cusp/

When I first started with learning lisp, I decided to look over a unit-testing framework. I was hooked.

I’m currently on step 3. We have a test tool that requires users to write an extraordinarily verbose XML test description. I’ve invented a little s-expr-based DSL and written a ‘compiler’ in Clojure that transforms the DSL to XML. The next step is to harness Clojure’s excellent Java integration to replace the guts of the test tool itself.

i finally made it, too.
i started with little emacs-hacks, to get used to lisp-syntax (elisp).
then i convinced my boss, to let me start a project with lisp, when he saw that i could finish the first milestone very fast & flexible. i told him, that with lisp i would be able to adapt the code to future problems much better than in any other system (keyword-parameters, multiple-values).
now, two projects are developed using lisp (simulation, 3d image analysis), both reaching beta status soon.

feeling like yellow-belt, next step for me will be using foreign libraries…

Why would you need to get slime/emacs working, or clisp? Clojure is perfectly capable and far superior to clisp.
